Why it works
Different techniques are employed to address the entire body, from head to toe, promoting muscle relaxation and facilitating movement in the shoulders, hips, legs, ankles, and back. This approach encompasses all relevant muscle groups, including hands and feet, enhancing overall energy flow throughout the body. By incorporating acupuncture, trigger points, energy lines, and joint movements, I work on the muscles to release or alter the energy flow within you. Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches that tension is stored in specific areas linked to emotions and their corresponding organs, enabling me to tailor each massage to your unique needs. The application of pressure adds a distinctive quality to my massage, as does the movement of through their utilization.
WHAT IS SHIATSU MASSAGE:
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese form of therapeutic bodywork that uses finger pressure, sustained touch, and gentle stretches to stimulate the body's energy flow, known as Qi, to promote healing and well-being. It is a holistic practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that aims to balance the body's internal energy through points along meridians, using fingers, thumbs, elbows, and palms to apply pressure, but without the use of oils or instruments. Shiatsu is typically performed with the client fully clothed, often on a padded mat on the floor, and can help with a variety of physical and psychological issues by addressing their root causes.
How Shiatsu Works
-
Pressure and Manipulation:
Therapists use their fingers, thumbs, palms, and sometimes elbows and knees to apply pressure and perform stretches, holding, and joint mobilizations on the body's surface.
-
Energy Flow (Qi):
The practice is based on the belief that energy, or Qi, flows through specific pathways called meridians. Blockages or imbalances in this flow can lead to pain, discomfort, and illness.
-
Acupressure Points:
Shiatsu practitioners stimulate specific acupressure points along these meridians to help restore the free flow of energy and promote healing.
